About the
Artist
I was born in Dearborn,
Michigan in 1966. Shortly after graduation I moved to Seattle, Washington
where I “came out” as an artist. In 1994, I met and apprenticed
under Northwest Artist, Galen Garwood in fine art monoprinting, and three-dimensional
sculpturing. In 1995, Marrowstone arts produced my first one-man show.
The show was a success, selling almost all pieces shown in monoprint and
sculpture.
I wanted to grow as an artist, so I moved to San Francisco to experience
a broader scope of life. Since being in San Francisco, I’ve had
many group shows as well as produced many one-man shows throughout the
city and in Long Beach.
My art has made it possible to express my feelings without having to use
words or to be present to affect people’s lives, whether or not
it is a monoprint, etching, oil, or sculpture. I speak through colors,
shapes, tones, and shadows. My work conveys emotion. Many times viewers
read into my work objects, which may not match my interpretation. This
highlights that my work is object independent, standing on its ability
to evoke emotions through allowing the viewer to see what they want to
see, while being given a clear emotional intention. Viewers are brought
into my artwork through their emotions.
